Abstract

|
Cytogenetic studies were carried out at total 237 cases with referral such as developmental delay, mental retardation, habitual abortion, infertility, sex chromosome aberrations at the Institute of Reproductive Medicine and Population, Medical Research Center, Seoul National University from January to December 2001. The results of karyotyping, chromosomal aberrations were observed 22.3%(53/237) in peripheral blood samples. In abnormal chromosome results, sex chromosome aberrations were 37.7%(20/53) and autosomal chromosome aberrations were 26.4%(14/53) and mosaicism were 35.8%(19/53). This chromosomal analysis will be served information for diagnosis of genetic problems and make possible genetic counseling.
